Performance-First

Your site is slow. Google noticed. So did your leads.

Every 100ms improvement in load time increases conversions by 7% (Akamai). Google’s Core Web Vitals are a confirmed ranking signal. A slow WordPress site costs you search visibility and customer trust at the same time. Parachute optimizes WordPress sites for real-world speed — measured in field data, not just lab scores.

Website Speed Optimization, Core Web Vitals Improvement

Speed problems most WordPress sites share.

We fix them at the code level.

A good PageSpeed score hides the real problem.

A good PageSpeed score hides the real problem.

PageSpeed Insights runs a lab test on a clean connection. Your users are on mobile networks, with ad blockers, cookies, and third-party scripts loaded. Field data — the Chrome User Experience Report — shows what real users actually experience. Many sites pass lab tests and still fail Core Web Vitals in the field.

Plugins are killing your performance.

Plugins are killing your performance.

Every plugin adds JavaScript, CSS, and database queries. Most WordPress sites accumulate plugins over years without anyone auditing the cumulative cost. A single poorly-coded plugin can add 2–3 seconds to Time to First Byte (TTFB) and wreck your INP score on interaction.

Your host can't fix a code problem.

Your host can't fix a code problem.

Upgrading your hosting plan delays the problem. If your WordPress theme generates 80 database queries per page load or serves uncompressed images, more server resources won’t move the needle. Performance optimization happens in the code, the database, and the delivery layer — not in your hosting tier.

Triangle Copy

We improve the metrics that affect rankings and revenue.

Core Web Vitals measure three things Google uses as ranking signals: LCP (Largest Contentful Paint) — how fast your main content loads. INP (Interaction to Next Paint) — how fast your site responds to clicks and input. INP replaced FID in March 2024. CLS (Cumulative Layout Shift) — how much your layout shifts while loading. We optimize all three, measured against real field data from Google Search Console.

Image and asset optimization.

Image and asset optimization.

We convert images to WebP, implement responsive srcset, add lazy loading, and defer non-critical CSS and JavaScript. Images are consistently the largest contributor to slow LCP scores. We eliminate that.

Caching, CDN, and server response.

Caching, CDN, and server response.

We configure full-page caching, object caching, and browser caching correctly for your WordPress setup. Where needed, we integrate a CDN for static asset delivery. TTFB under 200ms is the target. We get you there.

JavaScript and third-party script management.

JavaScript and third-party script management.

Third-party scripts — analytics, chat widgets, ad tags, social embeds — are the primary cause of poor INP scores. We audit every script, defer what can be deferred, remove what isn’t earning its weight, and implement facade patterns for heavy embeds like YouTube and maps.

THE COMPANY WE KEEP Our clients
Samara Wolofsky

“Our PageSpeed scores were in the 40s and Google Search Console was flagging Core Web Vitals failures across the entire site. Parachute identified the root causes — a bloated plugin stack and unoptimized images — and brought us to passing scores within two weeks. Organic traffic improved within a month.”

How we improve your Core Web Vitals and site speed.

01Performance Audit

We run a full performance audit using PageSpeed Insights, Chrome DevTools, and Google Search Console field data. We identify your LCP element, measure INP on key interactions, and find every CLS contributor. We also audit your plugin stack, database query volume, server response time, and third-party script payload.

02Optimization Plan

We prioritize fixes by impact. Critical path render-blocking resources first, then image optimization, then caching and CDN configuration, then third-party script management. You see the full plan before we touch anything.

03Code-Level Optimization

We implement fixes in your WordPress theme and plugin configuration. This includes critical CSS inlining, JavaScript deferral and code splitting, font loading optimization, and elimination of unused CSS. We do not use blanket optimization plugins that create as many problems as they solve.

04Image Pipeline

We convert your existing image library to WebP, implement correct sizing with responsive srcset attributes, configure lazy loading below the fold, and preload LCP images. For large sites, we automate this as part of the WordPress media upload workflow.

05Caching and Delivery

We configure server-side caching appropriate to your hosting environment, set correct browser cache headers, and integrate CDN delivery for static assets. For WordPress sites on managed hosts, we configure the caching layer to work with your theme’s dynamic content without conflicts.

06Measurement and Reporting

We document before and after metrics for LCP, INP, CLS, TTFB, and Total Blocking Time. We verify improvements in both lab scores and Google Search Console field data. You receive a report showing exactly what changed and by how much.

More FAQs
What are Core Web Vitals and why do they matter?

Core Web Vitals are three user experience metrics Google uses as ranking signals: LCP (Largest Contentful Paint) measures load time of the main content, INP (Interaction to Next Paint) measures responsiveness, and CLS (Cumulative Layout Shift) measures visual stability. Sites that pass all three thresholds get a ranking benefit. Sites that fail are penalized relative to faster competitors.

What is a passing Core Web Vitals score?

Google’s thresholds: LCP should be 2.5 seconds or faster. INP should be 200ms or less. CLS should be 0.1 or less. These are measured at the 75th percentile of field data, meaning 75% of your real users need to experience these scores. Lab tools like PageSpeed show approximations; Google Search Console shows your actual field data.

My PageSpeed score is already high. Do I still have a problem?

Possibly. PageSpeed Insights lab scores measure performance under ideal conditions. Your Core Web Vitals field data in Google Search Console shows what real users experience. It is common for sites to score 90+ in the lab and still fail INP or CLS thresholds in the field due to third-party scripts, logged-in user content, or dynamic page elements that don’t appear in lab tests.

Can you optimize a WordPress site you didn't build?

Yes. We audit and optimize existing WordPress sites regardless of who built them. We review your theme code, plugin stack, and hosting configuration. Some sites have issues too deeply embedded in the theme to fix without a rebuild. If that’s the case, we tell you upfront.

How long does performance optimization take?

A focused optimization engagement for a typical WordPress site takes 2–3 weeks. This covers the audit, code-level fixes, image optimization, caching configuration, and a verification pass. Sites with severe structural issues or very large image libraries may take longer.

Will these changes affect how my site looks or works?

No visible design changes. Performance optimization works at the delivery layer — how assets load and in what order — not at the visual layer. Your site looks identical. It just loads faster.

What results can I expect in Google Search Console?

Google’s field data takes 28 days to fully update after changes are made. Most clients see Core Web Vitals status move from ‘Poor’ or ‘Needs Improvement’ to ‘Good’ within one reporting cycle. Ranking improvements follow within 4–8 weeks as Google recrawls and re-evaluates the updated signals.
