Contract · Remote · Canada preferred, worldwide considered
You run your own freelance practice and want that to stay the case. You want steady, well-scoped work with an agency that trusts you to own the design from brief to launch. That is this role.
About Parachute
Parachute Design Group is a Toronto web design and development agency, founded in 2003. Our team of 12 designers and developers has worked fully remotely since 2009. We design and build custom WordPress websites for mid-sized and enterprise organizations, along with brand identity and print work.
The work
You receive a discovery brief from our Creative Director, then take the project from there:
- Translate discovery findings into sitemaps, user flows and wireframes.
- Design the full UI system in Figma: components, variables, responsive layouts.
- Present and defend your design decisions on client calls.
- Hand off clean, build-ready files to our development team and support them through the build.
- Take on logo, brand identity and print projects when they come up if you’re capable in these design disciplines.
You will join client calls from time to time. You lead the design conversation; you do not sit on mute.
You have
- 7+ years designing websites, with at least 3 at a senior or lead level.
- A portfolio of launched websites where you owned both the UX and the UI. Show us the wireframes, not only the final screens.
- Expert-level Figma: auto layout, components and variants, variables, organized libraries a developer can build from without asking questions.
- Working knowledge of how websites are built, including responsive behaviour, accessibility (WCAG 2.1 AA) and CMS constraints.
- Clear, confident communication with clients in English.
- Availability for calls during Eastern Time business hours.
- An established freelance practice. This is a contract role, not a path to employment.
Strong candidates also have
- Logo, brand identity and print design work in their portfolio.
- Experience designing for WordPress.
- RGD, CGD or equivalent designation.
- A habit of learning. Tell us what you have improved in your process in the last year.
What we offer
- You set your hourly rate based on experience.
- Ongoing project work.
- Complete discovery briefs, so you start with direction instead of guesswork.
- An in-house development team that builds what you design.
- Clients who value design, and a Creative Director who will push your work further.

Applications without all four will not be reviewed.
